Enjoy Family Bonding Through Parent And Toddler Swim Lessons
The ability to swim is one of the best gifts you can give your child. He or she will not only learn how to be safe in the water, but will also be equipped with the skills needed to swim competently whenever the desire or need arises.
These are skills he or she will use over a lifetime.
To ensure proper instruction, we recommend that you enroll your child into private or group parent and toddler swim lessons. Doing so will open the door to a myriad of benefits for you and your little one, not least of which is the opportunity to bond while having fun.
Reasons To Enroll Your Child Into Swim Lessons
Swimming lessons for kids offer more than just instruction on how to swim. Kids also benefit from physical activity, engaging challenges, and interaction with children their own age. They improve their strength, enjoy a boost in confidence, and increase their stamina and coordination along the way.
Also, as mentioned above, your child will learn about water safety. This may be one of the most compelling reasons to enroll him or her into lessons with experienced swim instructors. The instructors at the DuPage Swimming Center go to great lengths to teach kids how to be safe in the water.
Skills Covered In Parent And Toddler Swim Lessons
In parent/tot lessons, the instruction is focused on making each session fun for all parties. The goal is to teach rudimentary skills through the use of games and activities that encourage and nurture a lasting love for the water.
In the beginning, your child will learn how to float on his or her back, hold onto the wall, and push away with and without your help. Once he or she masters these elementary skills, the lessons will progress to more challenging ones. Your child will learn to submerge and surface, and kick and float, all on his or her own.
How Parent / Infant Swim Lessons Work
Your participation in the lessons is a key part of your child’s experience. Rather than being on the sidelines, you’ll be in the water with him or her. You’ll be next to your little one every step of the way.
As much as the lessons aim to make the children feel comfortable in the water, they’re also designed to help parents do to the same. Parents are taught numerous games and exercises they can do with their kids to increase their kids’ comfort levels. The trust between parent and child grows in the process.
Bond With Your Child In The Water
The best part of these lessons is the opportunity for you to bond with your little one. As you and your child play games and enjoy fun activities, all of which make learning to swim an engaging experience, you’ll feel closer and more connected. The parent-tot bonding experience is a given during the lessons.
In addition to the feeling of mutual connectedness, you’ll strengthen your child’s trust and sense of security in your relationship. You’ll also learn how to better read your little one’s cues, which will improve communication now and in the future.
When Is The Best Time To Enroll?
An old Chinese proverb states that the “best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”
We feel the same is true when it comes to enrolling children into swim lessons taught by experienced instructors. The best time to do so was yesterday. The next best time is today.
Give your child the lifelong gift of knowing how to swim. Enroll him or her into lessons designed to be fun, challenging, and inspiring. At the DuPage Swimming Center, we use a gentle approach that encourages children to be comfortable in the water and enjoy themselves while learning important skills. If you intend to enroll your toddler, we encourage you to join the fun!
