At Home Practice Tips
Practice blowing out candles softly rather than a hard and fast breath that would be used on a trick candle. This act will show your child how to blow slow soft mouth bubbles so that they can put their face under water for longer periods of time.
Play with toys that sink in the bathtub. Have your child place their entire face in the water to retrieve the object. This will help them feel more comfortable going under water.
Practice leg kicks on the edge of the sofa. Have your child sit with their legs stretched outward off the sofa. Have them kick their legs up and down in a mini scissor-like fashion. Their knees should be close together while kicking, and their ankles and toes should be pointed downward. This will help with proper kicking technique.
